LIVE TO CONQUER!
Citius, Altius, Fortius...Faster, Higher, Stronger
"Outdoors man'," Athlete of over 70 5Ks and 10 milers, turned marathon runner and "Ironman" in training.
Martin Neiberg never stopped competing. For the past 20 years, he has pushed the limits of his athletic abilities through countless local foot races and in 2008, even conquering the marathon circuit, starting right at the middle of the pack with sub 4's (under 4 hours). He will yet again conquer another milestone as he prepares to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In 2010, Martin enters the Triathlon circuit with visions of one day finishing at Kona Ironman World Championships.
Athletic goals drive Martin and he has consistently improved with every effort with Personal Records (PR) that includes 21:23 5K, 1:20 10 miler and a 3:57 on his second marathon despite painfully popped toe nails on route. Martin has never NOT finished an event even with injuries sustained during competition including an IT band issue whilst running in the NYC marathon in 2009, finishing at 4:24:52 and a listing in the NY Times.
In addition to running, Martin is an accomplished cyclist. During the triathlon season, Martin will engage in three (3) unique athletic disciplines of swim/bike/run. At Kona Ironman World Championships, each athlete is pushed to the edge, in an unforgiving climate, to complete a course that includes a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a full 26.2 mile marathon within a 17 hour window. Athletes must complete each discipline within a given time frame or they do not advance forward. They must get around and finish on time to be called an "Ironman."
Quitting is NOT an Option!
